Currently in Mexico there is a broad discussion on the issue of security, from the hegemonic institutions defends the idea of the necessary participation of the military forces in matters of public security, which is seen by civil organizations and social movements as a pretext to support processes of violation to human rights of the population in general. In this framework, the article presents a reflection on two views regarding the concept of security: on the one hand, the hegemonic vision that seeks to protect a particular state reason and interests is exposed, while on the other hand, the security perspective is presented that from towns, communities and collectives it has been built, which, it must be pointed out, constructs objective and subjective collective power that questions exclusive political decisions and identities assigned by the hegemonic power.
