La República de Colombia, proclamada por el Congreso General, y sancionada por los pueblos libres de Cundinamarca y Venezuela, es el sello de vuestra independencia, de vuestra prosperidad, de vuestra gloria nacional!
Las potencias extranjeras al presentaros constituidos sobre bases sólidas y permanentes de extensión, populación y riqueza, os reconocerán como Nación, y os respetarán por vuestras armas vencedoras: os estimarán por la justicia de vuestra causa, y os admirarán por vuestra consagración a la patria.
Colombians! The Republic of Colombia, proclaimed by the General Congress, and sanctioned by the free peoples of Cundinamarca and Venezuela, is the seal of your independence, of your prosperity, of your national glory! The foreign powers when presented constituted on solid and permanent bases of extension, population and wealth, will recognize you as a Nation, and will respect you for your victorious weapons: they will esteem you for the justice of your cause, and they will admire you for your consecration to the homeland.
