El material no es identificable satisfactoriamente pero puede ser referido a las familias Mixosauridae o Shastasauridae. Sin embargo su posición estratigráfica, que a juzgar por la fauna de moluscos citados corresponde al coniaciense, no coincide con la que presentan estas familias. Aparentemente este es el primer registro de un Ictiosaurio en ColombiaAn Ichthyosauria fragmentary dentary bone is described. It was collected in the neighborhood of the Quehrada Luní, Municipio de Piedras, Departamento del Tolima, Colombia. The available specimen cannot be satisfactorily identified, since it can be referred either to the family Míxosauridae or to Shastasauridae, although it does not fall into the known stratigraphical range of these families, because the mollusk fauna associated with this specimen points out a Coniacian age.
