Bajo estos lineamientos, la educación colombiana no ha sido un factor clave para resolver las necesidades sociales del país, por lo cual, éste trabajo busca identificar las fallas del sistema educativo colombiano enfocándose en los niveles básica y media, tomando como referencia el periodo 2010 - 2014 para así poder identificar su funcionamiento, y poder ofrecer recomendaciones para el mejoramiento y transformación de la educación del país. Para éste objetivo, el primer capítulo presenta un marco de referencias evidenciando la importancia de la educación, luego describe el sistema educativo global y finalmente el sistema educativo colombiano. El segundo capítulo realiza un análisis de los programas gubernamentales que se realizaron en el periodo de estudio en la educación colombiana. Y el tercer capítulo presenta las fallas encontradas en el sistema educativo colombiano.
