Item Front-end y Back-end de un radiotelescopio de 100-200 MHz orientado al estudio cosmológico de la Época de Reionización(Universidad Industrial de Santander, 2022-09-15) Perilla Mosquera, Felipe; Rodrı́guez Ferreira, Julián; Restrepo Gaitán, Óscar Alberto; Acevedo Cárdenas, Efrén Darío; Chaparro Molano, Germán; Bustos Placencia, RicardoRadio astronomy as an observational technique used in Astronomy allows experimental validation of theoretical models based on the study of electromagnetic cosmic waves. Technically, it uses dedicated instrumentation (radio telescopes) to acquire such signals. The study, based on the emission of 21-cm of neutral hydrogen at frequen- cies between 100 and 200 MHz, allows us to examine a scientific case of open study called Epoch of Reionization (EoR) in which we seek to compare physics models with experimental measurements. The reionization epoch is a link in the universe’s study in a primordial epoch, which allows us to understand the dynamic systems present at that epoch based on the behavior of electromagnetic waves. This project is based on simulations and measurements of the subsystems and the development of a software solution for data pre-processing, compatible with SDRs receivers. The aim is to validate the response of the antenna and the subsystems to establish the feasibility to use Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology devices as receivers for low-frequency radio telescopes. This project contributes to radio astronomy initiatives underway at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), which seek to position the university as a national and regional reference in this area of study.
