| dc.description.abstractenglish | This work presents a methodology for the design of low-aberration optical systems based on Cartesian surfaces within the framework of geometrical optics. The starting point is rigorously stigmatic configurations, from which two sequential optimization processes are developed, allowing the system to first approach aplanatism and subsequently achieve an approximation to isoplanatism. The methodology is based on the parametric formulation of Cartesian surfaces, whose structure makes it possible to describe rigorous stigmatism, aplanatism, and aberrations through shape parameters, which depend directly on the global parameters of the system. This relationship allows numerical strategies to be employed to first approach rigorous aplanatism and subsequently reduce aberrations while simultaneously homogenizing the size and shape of the spot diagrams associated with different field points by adjusting the free parameters of the system. The results show that it is possible to construct systems with approximately aplanatic behavior and, subsequently, systems whose point distribution on the image surface is nearly invariant with respect to the field, constituting a first approximation to isoplanatism. This demonstrates the feasibility of designing high-quality optical systems based on Cartesian surfaces and optimization processes by taking advantage of the ray-tracing method proposed in GOTS, establishing a solid foundation for future developments incorporating physical-optics effects and extending this methodology toward more complex applications. | |
