| dc.description | In the eighties, a process of socioeconomic instability starts in Costa Rica, mainly due to international oil problems at the end of the seventies. The poverty increased and there was a social discontent towards those who lead the politic and religious power. The arrival of North American evangelical missions coming increased, their work started mainly in the lower classes. His strong fundamentalism generated a new intervention of conservatism, therefore, the obstruction of sexual and reproductive rights. This article presents this religious process with the culmination of a summary of an interview with an LGTBI leader about the problems that the legality of sexual rights has had. | en-US |

La pobreza incrementó y hubo un descontento social hacia los que lideraban el poder político y religioso. La llegada de misiones evangélicas norteamericanas tuvo gran aceptación en las clases bajas. Su fuerte fundamentalismo generó una nueva intervención del conservadurismo, por ende, la obstaculización de los derechos sexuales y reproductivos. Este artículo esboza este proceso religioso con la culminación de un resumen de una entrevista a un líder LGTBI sobre los tropiezos que ha tenido la legalidad de los derechos sexuales. | es-ES |
