dc.description.abstract	En las operaciones de la industria del petróleo y gas son muchos los factores de riesgo presentes ya sean por causas internas de la operación o por casusas externas que son imposibles de prevenir y controlar. Estos factores son un componente importante cuando las operaciones se trasladan al entorno costa afuera, por esta razón es conveniente realizar un estudio de los riesgos presentes en la locación; teniendo en cuenta todos los factores que están presentes (climatología, oceanografía y geología) por muy poca probabilidad que tengan los escenarios de riesgo de ocurrir. En el presente trabajo de investigación se realizó una revisión bibliográfica para determinar los principales factores de riesgo que están presentes en las operaciones costa afuera alrededor del mundo para clasificarlos y definirlos. Además, se realizó una caracterización del entorno del Caribe Colombiano donde se están llevando a cabo y se realizarán futuras operaciones. Finalmente se realizó una matriz de evaluación de riesgo, donde de forma cualitativa se le dio un valor de probabilidad de ocurrencia y vulnerabilidad ambiental a cada uno de los riesgos identificados. Como resultado se identificó que el escenario de riesgo que tiene mayor probabilidad de ocurrir y puede causar una alta afectación ambiental,
dc.description.abstractenglish	In the Oil and gas (O&G) industry operations, there are many present risk, whether due to internal factors of the operation or external causes that are impossible to prevent and control. These factors increase and become an important component when operations move to the offshore environment, for this reason it is convenient to carry out a study of the risks present in the location; taking into account all the factors that will be present there (climatology, oceanography and geology) no matter how unlikely the risk scenarios are to occur. In this research work, a bibliographic review was conducted to determine the main, or most common, risk factors that are present in offshore operations around the world; based on the results, these factors were classified and defined. In addition, an environmental characterization of the Colombian Caribbean sea was performed where future operations are being developed and will be develop. Finally, a risk assessment matrix was made, where a qualitative value of probability of occurrence and environmental vulnerability was given to each of the identified risks.
