| dc.description | Juan Evangelista González y Aguiar, was a politicen whose revolutionary action contributed to the incorporation of the province of Maracaibo to the cause of independence. His figure has been mediated in the last two centuries, despite his transcendental role and his links, absolutely documented, with all the plots and attempts to separate the old province of Maracaibo from the Spanish Crown; role that he performed on the province's own soil, risking life and property. This work outlines his life and participation in all the revolutionary events against the Metropolis that occurred in Maracaibo between 1808 and 1823, in addition to pointing out the nature of such events, showing that the late incorporation of Maracaibo to the Venezuelan independence project was not exempt from serious attempts. for breaking free from a 300-year-old colonial yoke. | en-US |

Su figura ha estado mediatizada en los últimos dos siglos, no obstante, su papel trascendental y sus vinculaciones, absolutamente documentadas, con todos los complots e intentos por separar a la antigua provincia de Maracaibo de la Corona Española, papel que realizó en el propio suelo de la Provincia, arriesgando vida y bienes. Este trabajo esboza su vida y participación en todos los hechos revolucionarios contra la Metrópoli ocurridos en Maracaibo entre 1808 y 1823, además que señala la naturaleza de tales eventos, demostrando que la tardía incorporación de Maracaibo al proyecto independentista de Venezuela no estuvo exenta de serios intentos por liberarse de un yugo colonial de 300 años. | es-ES |
