| dc.description | By the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the uprising of independence took place against the government of New Spain. The Villagran family witnessed the conflicts and persecutions during the outbreak in the old sub-delegation of Huichapan, in the current state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Until now, the studies spread Julian and his son Jose María “Chito” as the main leaders in the region, but ¿who were the Villagran? The review of archival sources allows us to present a prosopography of the family and broaden the knowledge of the actors, their interests and their affiliations, to unravel their participation as muleteers and merchants immersed in a complex network of interactions, which allowed them to amass an important heritage, enduring for at least three generations. | en-US |

La familia Villagrán presenció los conflictos y perseguimientos durante el estallido en la antigua subdelegación de Huichapan, en el actual estado de Hidalgo, México. Hasta ahora, los estudios difunden a Julián y a su hijo José María “Chito” como principales cabecillas en la región, pero ¿Quiénes fueron los Villagrán? La revisión de fuentes archivísticas permite presentar una prosopografía de la familia y ampliar el conocimiento de los actores, sus intereses y sus adhesiones, para desentrañar su participación como arrieros y comerciantes inmersos en una compleja red de interacciones, que les permitieron amasar un importante patrimonio, perdurable por al menos tres generaciones. | es-ES |
