| dc.description | El schwannoma es un tumor benigno que usualmente se presenta en los nervios periféricos de la extremidad superior. El diagnóstico se basa en la apariencia típica en la resonancia magnética y se confirma por estudio histológico. El tratamiento quirúrgico es la resección con preservación de fascículos nerviosos adyacentes. La transformación maligna de este tumor es muy baja. Se presenta un schwannoma benigno solitario del plexo braquial no asociada con la enfermedad de Von Recklinghausen, localizada en el origen del nervio radial en el tronco posterior del plexo braquial. | dc.description | The schwannoma is a benign tumor that usually occurs in the peripheral nerves of the upper limb. The diagnosis is based on the typical appearance of magnetic resonance and confirmed by histological examination. Surgical treatment is resection with preservation of adjacent nerve fascicles. The malignant transformation of this tumor is very low. A solitary benign schwannoma of the brachial plexus unassociated with von Recklinghausen’s disease is presented, located at the origin of the radial nerve in the posterior cord of the brachial plexus.
