dc.description.abstract	La gestión integral de los residuos peligrosos tiene como objetivo la minimización de los riesgos para los seres humanos y el medio ambiente, a través del adecuado manejo y la disminución de la cantidad y/o peligrosidad de los residuos que llegan a los sitios de disposición final. Además, esta gestión requiere ser parte de una estrategia integral ambiental, para evitar transferir de un medio a otro los problemas generados por estos, a la vez que debe reflejarse en las políticas sectoriales. Este proyecto responde a la necesidad de evaluación de la gestión externa referente al tratamiento y disposición final de las empresas en Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana, ya que gracias a la regularización de las normas ambientales referentes a la gestión de los residuos peligrosos (RESPEL) se ha venido incrementando la contratación de la gestión externa de estos residuos con empresas especiales de aseo. Con el fin de estimar los impactos ambientales y verificar el cumplimiento de la normatividad ambiental vigente de las diferentes tecnologías de tratamiento y disposición final aplicadas por las empresas locales, se desarrolló una lista de chequeo que incluyó información que permitió la evaluación de estos parámetros además del manejo de contingencias ambientales, evaluación de la trazabilidad de los residuos, métodos de disposición final, entre otras. Finalmente, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica a cerca de las tecnologías de tratamiento empleadas por empresas nacionales e internacionales, las cuales fueron importantes para definir que la gestión realizada por las empresas de aseo especial en Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana cumplen con los parámetros y expectativas internacionales y que se encuentran dentro de los reglamentos y normatividades ambientales exigidas. A nivel nacional la incineración es la alternativa con mayor uso para el tratamiento de los RESPEL.
dc.description.abstractenglish	Comprehensive management of dangerous waste has as purpose the minimization of risk for human beings and the environment, through the appropriate management and decreasing of the quantity and/or hazard of the waste that arrive at final waste disposal places. Also this management requires to be part of an integral and environmental strategy, to avoid transferring the problems generated by dangerous waste from one environment to another, at the same time it has to be reflected in the sectional policies. This Project responds to the necessity of evaluation and external management concerning the treatment and final waste disposal of the companies in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, because due to the regularization of environmental norms concerning the management of dangerous waste (RESPEL) has been increasing the hiring of external management of this waste with special cleaning companies. With the purpose of estimating the environmental impact and verify the fulfillment of the valid environmental regulations of the different technologies of treatment and final waste disposal applied by local companies, a check list was developed that included information which allowed the evaluation of these parameters also of the handling of environmental contingencies, evaluation of waste traceability, methodologies of final disposal, among others. Finally, a bibliographical revision was carried out about technologies of treatment used by national and international companies, which were important to conclude that the management done by special cleaning companies in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, fulfill with the parameters and international expectations, and that they are among the regulation and environmental legislation required. Nationwide the cremation is the most popular option used for the treatment of RESPEL.
