dc.description.abstract	Según la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud), la calidad de vida es "la percepción que un individuo tiene de su lugar en la existencia, en el contexto de la cultura y del sistema de valores en los que vive y en relación con sus objetivos, sus expectativas, sus normas, sus inquietudes. Se trata de un concepto que está influido por la salud física del sujeto, su estado psicológico, su nivel de independencia, sus relaciones sociales, así como su relación con su entorno La evaluación de calidad de vida en un paciente representa el impacto que una enfermedad y su consecuente tratamiento tienen sobre la percepción del paciente de su bienestar. El PNUD trabaja en la prevención de la propagación del VIH/SIDA y en la reducción de su impacto. colabora con el desarrollo de capacidades locales para movilizar todos los niveles de gobierno y de la sociedad civil para dar una respuesta coordinada a la epidemia y proteger los derechos de las personas viviendo con el VIH, las mujeres y grupos de población más vulnerables. se pretende presentar inicialmente un informe sobre la situación socioeconómica del Departamento de Santander y a continuación el diagnóstico del sector salud tanto a nivel nacional como departamental, enfocado a nuestro tema de análisis ETS y VIH/SIDA. Si se analiza esta relativa riqueza bajo indicadores tales como el índice de Necesidades Básicas Insatisfechas (NBI) y el de miseria aparece un gran desequilibrio económico donde las brechas de desarrollo entre el Área Metropolitana de Bucaramanga y la zona rural del departamento son amplias
