| dc.description | The petrographic study of 115 samples of the Labor and Tierna Sandstones (Guadalupe Formation, Upper Cretaceous) shows the existence of a differentiation between both levels, The Labor Sandstone is characterized by the presence of glauconite in the most part of the Iayers of the section, by the presence of the matrix in some layers, and because the median of quartz grains has lower vaIues. The nature of the cement is quite variable with abundance of carbonated cement and higher amount of ferruginous cement. The Tierna Sandstone has as characteristics the low content of glauconite, the existence of some thick grain Iayers of sandstones, and the abundance of quartzitic texture. In the cement predominates the kaolinite and there is very few calcium carbonate cements. Also is important to indicate the absence of the clay matrix. | en-US |
| dc.description | EI estudio petrográfico de 115 muestras de las areniscas de Labor y Tierna (Formación Guadalupe, cretácico superior) pone de manifiesto que existe una diferenciación entre ambos niveles. La Arenisca de Labor se caracteriza por la presencia de glauconita en la mayoría de las capas de la serie, por presentar la mediana de los granos de cuarzo con valores más bajos, por la presencia de matriz en algunas de las capas, y en cuanto a la naturaleza del cemento aunque esta es muy variada llama la atención la abundancia de cemento carbonatado y es también en estas areniscas donde abunda más el cemento ferruginoso. La Arenisca Tierna se caracteriza a su vez por la escasez de glauconita, por la existencia de algunas capas de areniscas de grano grueso y por la abundancia de textura cuarcítica. Respecto al cemento domina la caolinita y son muy raros los cementos de carbonato cálcico. Otro hecho a señalar es la ausencia de matriz arcillosa. | es-ES |
