| dc.description | El siguiente texto comprende un avance de investigación teórica en torno al desarrollo de un modelo de semántica visual icónica que actualmente se encuentra en proceso de construcción. En el marco de la teoría sobre la competencia propuesta por la escuela de París, se propone un acercamiento a la competencia visual, para lo que se tiene en cuenta la descodificación visual y la semántica de las funciones icónicas. De estas dos últimas se desprenden una serie de haceres perceptivos y cognitivos, y otra de saberes semánticos, que constituirían dicha competencia que se debe entender como presupuesta al quehacer interpretativo de los mensajes visuales. ABSTRACT Reflections about the competition concept in visual semiotics This article shows preliminary theoretical research advances concerning the development of a model for visual-iconic semantics. In the framework of Paris School theory of competence, it is proposed an approach to visual competence keeping in mind the visual and semantic decodifi cation of iconic functions. From those, both a series of perceptive and cognitive ‘doings’ and of semantic ‘knowings’ are disentangled, which would constitute the competence already mentioned.
