| dc.description | La historia de la botánica en el Perú decimonónico ha estado invisibilizada a pesar de las numerosas fuentes históricas que existen. Al final del siglo XIX hubo varias publicaciones científicas que incluyeron a la botánica como una ciencia de amplio interés para el gobierno y los intelectuales, por ejemplo, el Boletín de la Sociedad Geográfica de Lima. El objetivo del artículo es comprender el interés de algunos miembros de la Sociedad Geográfica de Lima por efectuar el inventario y descripción de la flora peruana, así como señalar su utilidad a través del Boletín en el periodo 1891-1900. Los estudios sobre las especies vegetales se dividen en los relativos a las plantas nativas y los que abordaron las plantas aclimatadas. El análisis del Boletín muestra que la botánica fue una ciencia importante en los proyectos económicos, sociales y políticos del Perú al final del siglo XIX. | es-ES |
| dc.description | The History of Botany in Peru in the Nineteenth-Century is scarce despite the numerous historical sources that exist. At the end of the Nineteenth-Century there were several scientific publications that included Botany as a science of interest to the government and intellectuals, for example, the Bulletin of the Geographic Society of Lima. The objective of the article is to understand the interest of some members of the Geographic Society of Lima to carry out the inventory and description of the Peruvian flora, as well as to indicate its usefulness through the Bulletin in the period 1891-1900. Studies on plant species are divided into those related to native plants and those related to acclimatized plants. The analysis of the Bulletin shows that Botany was an important science in the economic, social and political projects of Peru at the end of the Nineteenth-Century. | en-US |
