| dc.description | RESUMENSe propone un modelo del magmatismo asociado al estadio "Ruiz Ancestral" del Volcán Nevado del Ruiz entre 2 a 1 Ma, mediante la cartografía de los remanentes de lavas en los alrededores Noreste-Norte-Noroeste del edificio actual del volcán, que cubren un área de 200 Km2. Las rocas son andesitas y en menor proporción andesitas-basálticas y dacitas de medio a alto K y con afinidad calcoalcalina. Los rangos de variación de elementos trazas vs SiO2 sugieren un grado de evolución por cristalización fraccionada de minerales ferromagnesianos y plagioclasa cálcica. El patrón de elementos traza es el típico de ambientes de arco, con un enriquecimiento en Sr, K, Rb, Ba y Th y un empobrecimiento en Nb. El diagrama de tierras raras muestra una pendiente moderada y un enriquecimiento general en tierras raras ligeras.Palabras clave: Ruiz Ancestral, Arco Volcánico, Andesitas, Calcoalcalino, Colombia.ABSTRACT A model of the "Ruiz Ancestral" stage (2 to 1 Ma) at the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano is proposed. The extension of the lava remnants of this stage covered an area of about 200 Km2 and they were cartographied around the Northeast-North-Northwest of the present edifice of the volcano. Whole-rock geochemical data of andesitic, basaltic-andesitic and dacitic samples from the different outcrops share the calcalkaline affinity with medium to high K contents. The trace elements range variation compared with SiO2 suggests a fractional crystallization mechanism from the ferromagnesian minerals and the calcic plagioclase. The trace elements pattern is typical of a volcanic arc with Sr, K, Rb, Ba y Th enrichments and Nb impoverishment.
