dc.descriptionRESUMEN En el presente artículo ofrecemos una síntesis del debate que sobre los Derechos de la Mujer se desarrolló en la época de la ilustración, debate que si bien empezó a gestarse en el seno mismo de la Enciclopedia, tuvo su expresión en el pensamiento de varias mujeres ilustradas que empezaron a cuestionar la universalidad de una deelaración de derechos que incluía sólo a los hombres, dejando por fuera a más de la mitad de la humanidad, es decir a las mujeres. Atención especial merece Olympe de Gouges quíen redactó la primera Declaración Universal de Derechos de la Mujer, en donde no sólo se extienden a la mujer todos los derechos que ya habían sido concedidos a los hombres, sino que se pide la intervención de la ley no sólo para asegurar a todos, hombres y mujeres, la posIbilidad de gozar de igualdad de derechos, sino también para acabar con las diferencias de poderes, libertades y capacidades producidas por siglos de ignorancia, abnegación y sometimiento de las mujeres.  es-ES
dc.descriptionSUMMARY In this article we present a synthesis of the debate about Women's Rights developed during the Enlightment times, debate that although started to be conceived at the heart of the Encyclopedia, had its expression in the thought of several enlightened women who began to question the universality of a Rights Declaration which included only men, leaving out more than half of the humanity, that is women. Special attention is given to Olympe de Gouges who wrote the first Universal Declaration of Women's Rights where not only all the rights given to men are extended to women but also it is asked the participation of the law to make sure the possibility that men and women had the same rights and to finish the differences of powers, freedom and capacities resulting from centuries of ignorance, self-denial and submission of women.en-US
