dc.description.abstractenglish | Silver nanoparticles interact with organic macromolecules with excellent optical, electronic and catalytic properties. This has led to their application in nanomedicine and catalysis, among others. To understand their structural properties are required robust computational methods due to their size and complexity. In 2017 the semiempirical method GFN-xTB and in 2020 the force field GFN-FF were proposed for studying the properties of big molecular systems. These methods are promising due to their automation and the number of parameterizations (GFN-FF), and the combination of the quantum-mechanical part with parameterizations (GFN-xTB). These methods have been applied to organic and organometallic systems with good results, but not to complexes between nanoparticles and organic molecules; Therefore, in this degree work for the title of chemist we perform a comparative evaluation of these methods with some functionals DFT. We evaluated the efficiency of GFN-FF and GFN-xTB in the study of interactions between Ag55NP and 2-propanol, 2-propanethiol and 2-propanamine in comparison with level of theory PBEh-3c, PBE-D3/def2-SVP (CP) and B97-3c. We find that the interaction energies between Ag55NP and 2-propanol, 2-propanethiol and 2-propanamine calculated with GFN-xTB are similar to those obtained with the levels of theory PBEh-3c and PBE-D3/def2-SVP (CP), the differences are less than 5.6 kcal/mol. With respect to GFN-FF the interaction energy between Ag55NP and 2-propanol is similar to levels of theory PBEh-3c and PBE-D3/def2-SVP (CP), with differences of less than 4.6 kcal/mol. In conclusion, GFN-xTB can describe the interactions between Ag55NP and organic molecules with a level of accuracy close to that of the levels of theory PBEh-3c and PBE-D3/def2-SVP (CP) and with an excellent accuracy/computational cost relationship. Similarly GFN-FF can describe the interactions between Ag55NP and 2-propanol with a level of accuracy similar to that of the levels of theory PBEh-3c and PBE-D3/def2-SVP (CP).
