dc.description.abstractenglish | Electric power and drinking water are of vital importance for the development of society. The exponential population growth decreases the availability of non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels and drinking water. Consequently, the industrial sector needs to create more goods and services to meet demand, which translates into large amounts of energy and water that have to be used. By the year 2050, it is predicted that the increase in water use will be 20 to 30% compared to today. More than 2 billion people live in countries experiencing severe water scarcity, and approximately 4 billion people experience severe water scarcity for at least one month of the year. Scarcity levels will continue to rise as water demand grows and the effects of climate change intensify. This work shows a research study of the thermal processes of vacuum evaporation systems for poultry wastewater treatment. A mathematical model is developed that allows the design of four configurations of vacuum evaporation systems of thermal wastewater, composed of heat exchangers such as preheaters, evaporators, and condensers. The heat transfer of the exchangers is studied due to how the wastewater, heating steam, cooling water, and refrigerant R134a flows are established. The mathematical model was implemented in the software for simulation of thermal systems TRNSYS, where each exchanger corresponds to a created module, and they were connected forming each of the configurations of the system that are presented in this work. As a result, the final dimensions of the heat exchangers and pumping systems of each one of the configurations according to requirements for treating water coming from a poultry benefit plant were obtained and it is established the energy requirement of each of these and their respective comparisons.
