De la promesa de salvación a la religión tecnológica: milenarismo y mesianismo en las raíces de la tecnología moderna

dc.descriptionThe objective of this article is to introduce a historical understanding of the relationship between millennialism and modern technology. Traditionally, this relationship has been described from the dialectical concept of ‘secularization’, the notion of ‘technology’ as domination of the human being over nature and the Catholic notion of mitigated millenarianism’. We will point out some limitations that these notions impose on a historical understanding of the technological phenomenon, since they ignore their participation in the historical processes of value creation. We propose a genealogical explanation of the persistence of belief in the promise of salvation in technological culture, denouncing the dialectical notion of "secularization" and offering broader descriptions of "millennialism" and "technology".en-US
dc.descriptionEl objetivo de este artículo es introducir una comprensión histórica de la relación entre el milenarismo y la tecnología moderna. Tradicionalmente, esta relación ha sido descrita desde el concepto dialéctico de ‘secularización’, la noción de ‘tecnología’ como dominación del ser humano sobre la naturaleza y la noción católica de ‘milenarismo mitigado’. Se señalan algunas limitaciones que imponen estas nociones a una comprensión histórica del fenómeno tecnológico, puesto que ignoran su participación en los procesos históricos de creación de valores. Se propone una explicación genealógica de la pervivencia de la creencia en la promesa de salvación en la cultura tecnológica, denunciando la noción dialéctica de ‘secularización’ y ofreciendo descripciones más amplias de ‘milenarismo’ y ‘tecnología’.es-ES
