dc.description.abstractObjetivo: reportar los resultados visuales después de la implantación de segmentos intraestromales KERARINGO (Mediphacos, Brasil) para la corrección del queratocono. El estudio fue realizado con pacientes del Centro Oftalmológico Virgilio Galvis, FOSCAL Los segmentos intraestromales corneales KERARING fueron implantados para la corrección del queratocono; el análisis estadístico incluyó la agudeza visual sin corrección (AVSC), equivalente esférico EE), y la medida de la Profundidad de Cámara agudeza visual con corrección (AVCC), valores de queratometría, astigmatismo topográfico, y los resultados refractivos: (refracción esférica, refracción cilíndrica Anterior en el preoperatorio y postoperatorio. Los pacientes fueron examinados en el día 1, así como los meses 1, 3, 6, 12 y 24 del postoperatorio. Se registraron y analizaron las complicaciones postoperatorias. Resultados: Veintiocho ojos de 23 pacientes fueron evaluados. La AVSC mejoró en 76 % de los ojos, sin altera ración en 12 %, y empeoró en 12 %; la AVCC mejoró en 64.5 % de los ojos, sin alterarse en 12%, y empeoró en 24%. La AVSC promedio mejoró de 1,38 + 0,44 logMAR preoperatoriamente a 0.93 logMAR postoperatoriamente (p=0.00), y el promedio de AVCC paso de 0,56 + 0,31 logMAR a 0,38 + 0,20 logMAR en los primeros 12 meses del seguimiento. El equivalente esférico promedio (EE) fue reducido de -5,05 + 2,79 D a -4,07 + 2,79 D (12 meses); el promedio de cilindro refractivo fue reducido de -4,26 + 2,14 D a 2,87 + 1,88 D (p <0.05) y las queratometrías promedio disminuyeron de 50,73 + 4,49 D a 47,98 + 4,35 D postoperatoriamente hacia el mes 24. La extrusión de segmentos intraestromales ocurrió en 2 ojos (7.1%) y se presento un caso de queratitis bacteriana (3.5%) Conclusiones: la Implantación de segmentos intraestromales Keraring en pacientes con keratoconus mejora la AVSC, la AVCC, y los resultados refractivos principalmente el cilindro refractivo.
dc.description.abstractenglishPurpose: To report the outcomes visual after the implantation of intrastromal corneal ring segments (KERARING® Mediphacos, Brazil) for the correction of keratoconus. Setting: Private practice, Centro Oftalmologico Virgilio Galvis, Bucaramanga, Colombia Methods: Intrastromal corneal ring segments were implanted for keratoconus correction; Statistical analysis included uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), keratometry (K) values, topographic astigmatism, refractive values (spherical refraction, cylinder refraction , spherical equivalent SE), and measurement of the Anterior Chamber Depth (ACD) (Orbscan Il Bausch & Lomb) in the preoperative and postoperative . Patients were examined before and after surgery at 1 day, as well as 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months postoperatively. In addition, the postoperative complications were recorded and analyzed. Results: Twenty eight eyes of 23 patients were evaluated. The UCVA improved in 76% of eyes, was unchanged in 12%, and worsened in 12%; the BSCVA improved in 64.5% of eyes, was unchanged in 12%, and worsened in 24%. The mean UCVA improved from 1,384 0,44 logMAR preoperatively to 0.93 logMAR postoperatively (p=0.00), and the mean BSCVA, from 0,56 + 0,31 logMAR to 0,38 + 0,20 logMAR at the 12 months during the follow-up. The mean spherical equivalent (SE) was reduced from -5,05 + 2,79 diopters (D) to -4,07 + 2,79 D (12 months); the mean refractive astigmatism was reduced from -4,26 + 2,14 D to 2,87 + 1,88 D (p <0.05) and the mean keratometry decreased from 50,73 + 4,49 D preoperatively to 47,98 + 4,35 D postoperatively in the 24 months during the follow-up. Intracorneal ring segment extrusion occurred in 2 eyes (7.1%) and bacterial keratitis in 1 eye (3.5%) Conclusions: Implantation of Keraring intracorneal ring segments in patients with keratoconus improve the UCVA, the BSCVA, and the refractive outcomes principally the mean cylinder refraction.
