dc.description.abstractenglishIndustries generate, as waste of their processes, water pollutants; such as heavy metals, dyes, crude oil spills, among others. Pollution and the recurrent shortages of water resources denote a marked need to treat and water purification to meet the continued demand for this resource as the main service in industrial processes and population consumption, so technologies based on graphene oxide (GO) and some derivatives of graphene are studied, with high capacities of removal of a wide range of substances. For this research, a bibliographic review was developed to learn about the different methods of synthesis and applications of graphene oxide aerogel for the remediation and treatment of water during a recent chronology. Different keywords and search parameters were used in the databases: Science Direct, Web of Sciencie, SpringerLink, Scopus, and undergraduate thesis, selecting the most successful studies for the research topic according to the article title, summary, and keywords obtaining as a search result 1069 articles studying the methods of synthesis of Graphene Oxide highlighting the Hummers and Bodlie method and GO airborne synthesis method, such as the sol gel method, selfassembly by freezing, hydrothermal treatment and templateassisted growth and consequently investigate the use of these aircraft in water treatment and remediation applications against conventional methods for the purpose of making comparisons against GObased materials in terms of absorption capacity , material recovery and its ease of largescale production
