dc.descriptionEjercitados en un arte de pensar puramente verbal, los sofistas fueron los primeros que se atarearon en reflexionar sobre las palabras, sobre su valor y su propiedad, sobre la función que les correspondía en la dirección del razonamiento: el paso capital hacia el descubrimiento del estilo, concebido como fin en sí mismo, como fin intrínseco, estaba dado. Sólo quedaba ya trasponer esta búsqueda verbal, darle por objeto la armonía de la frase, sustituir el juego de la abstracción por el juego de la expresión.es-ES
