dc.description.abstractenglishHydraulic fracturing is an oil wells stimulation technique characterized by using a large amount of water for its execution. Due to the proliferation in the development of unconventional reservoirs such as shale gas and restrictions that have been implemented over the use of water in certain regions of the world, it is imminent use of flowback treatment technologies for converting these residual volumes in useful assets for new stages of fracking. In the industry, there are a number of technologies that may be applicable to the treatment of these flowback, as there are emerging technologies that can have significant impact and effectiveness in treatment. This research sets the technologies that could be optimal for the treatment of flowback in unconventional reservoirs in Colombia based on the sensitivity analysis of water stability indices, technical parameters and experience in a real scale of each technology, the correlation of the flowback physicochemical characteristics of the foreign geological formation similar to Colombian geological formation and the economic analysis. The best option arises from the higher operational efficiency at the lowest possible cost.
