dc.description.abstractLa Biblioteca de la UIS como entidad académico administrativa de la Universidad se encarga de adquirir, organizar y difundir la información con el objetivo de apoyar la academia y la investigación. Esta información se adquiere en los formatos disponibles en el mercado editorial, y en aquellos que por alguna circunstancia, debido a los avances técnicos y tecnológicos van apareciendo en esta industria de la información y el conocimiento. Las microformas son otra manera de almacenamiento de información con muchas ventajas sobre otros formatos como papel y el medio magnético. Por esta razón la Biblioteca ha adquirido Publicaciones Periódicas Internacionales y ha apoyado la labor de microfilmación que la misma Universidad realiza de las Tesis de grado de cada egresado. Igualmente ha adquirido la infraestructura logística y técnica para la lectura y la reproducción de esta información microfilmada. A pesar de haber adquirido revistas en microformato y de tener copias microfilmadas de las Tesis de grado, ésta colección de microformas tiene un bajo indice de consulta por los usuarios y, por lo tanto casi está en absoluto reposo, perdiéndose todo ese acervo bibliográfico que bien podría beneficiar al investigador aportándole datos e información relevante para sus propios fines. La investigación, llevada a cabo durante un semestre académico, de carácter cuantitativo permite establecer mediante instrumentos como la encuesta, la entrevista y la observación los factores que inciden en la baja consulta de esta colección, logrando identificar variables dependientes e independientes para plantear unas recomendaciones minimas, pero suficientes, con el fin de posicionar la colección de microformas en los intereses de los usuarios que acuden diariamente a las Bibliotecas Central y Médica de la Universidad Industrial de Santander.
dc.description.abstractenglishThe Library of the UIS like entity academic office worker of the University takes charge of acquiring. to organize and to diffuse the information with the objective of supporting the academy and the investigation. This information is acquired in the available formats in the editorial market, and in those that for some circumstance, due to the technical and technological advances they go appearing in this industry of the information and the knowledge. The microforms are another way of storage of information with many advantages on other formats like paper and the magnetic means. For this reason the Library has acquired International Periodic Publications and it has supported the microfilming work that the same University carries out of the Theses of degree of each graduated. Equally she has acquired the logistical infrastructure and technique for the reading and the reproduction of this information microfilmed. In spite of having acquired magazines in microformat and of having copies microfilmed of the degree Theses, this collection of microforms has an index first floor of consultation for the users and, therefore almost rest is at all, getting lost that whole bibliographical wealth that well could benefit the investigator contributing him data and excellent information for its own ends. The investigation, carried out during an academic semester, of quantitative character allows to settle down by means of instruments like the survey, the interview and the observation the factors that impact in the drop it consults of this collection, being able to identify dependent and independent variables to outline some minimum, but enough recommendations, with the purpose of positioning the collection of microforms in the interests of the users that you/they go to the Libraries Power station and Doctor of the Industrial University of Santander daily.
