dc.description.abstractenglish | Given that conventional oil deposits are experiencing a clear decline in production, operating companies such as Ecopetrol SA focus all their attention on implementing new alternatives for increasing the exploration and production of heavy and extra-heavy oil fields. The optimization of the production of those fields can be analyzed from different viewpoints. For this particular project, a study of diluent application was made by the injection of Naphtha, LPG and Apiasol at strategic points of the collection system of an extra-heavy oil field which consists of forty-five wells with artificial electrosumergible lift, in order to increase production and API gravity of the oil which reaches to the separator of the same field; based on nodal analysis technique and supported by the simulation software PIPESIM, because those tools allow to analyze efficiently the characteristics of the production system from the downhole to the collection station of the field where the fluid arrive, and analyze the change of the petrophysical properties. The analysis of results obtained through the changes made to the collection system was supported by a technical and economic evaluation which allowed select the most viable diluent for field investigated.
