dc.description.abstractenglish | During the natural gas dehydration process, a large amount of the components absorbed by the glycol are expelled into the environment together with water vapor through the upper part of the regenerator. Within these compounds there are different substances that are part of the so-called greenhouse gases (GHG). These gases are associated with different environmental phenomenon and a number of health problems, due to the high levels of pollution they produce. Among the technological opportunities that have been implemented to mitigate this phenomenon, gas dehydration by absorption stands out. This technique implements different types of glycols to dehydrate the natural gas and absorb the BTEX components. This research project evaluates the impact generated by Tetra ethylene Glycol and Tri ethylene Glycol on the generation of greenhouse gases in natural gas dehydration plants, considering some operating conditions, such as gas inlet temperature, reboiler temperature, circulation of the glycol and the glycol used, and considering the requirements requested by the CREG regarding gas dehydration. The research project is divided into three stages, initially a bibliographic review of the operation of natural gas dehydration plants using glycols, the physicochemical properties and the thermodynamic behavior of the glycols is carried out, subsequently various numerical simulations are carried out using the software Hysys contemplating a series of parameters, technical and operational criteria necessary to carry out this process, and finally a quantification of the production of greenhouse gases is carried out considering the type of solvent and the sensitivity of the different variables used in the process, evidencing that Tetra ethylene glycol manages to reduce GHGs to a greater extent.
