dc.descriptionthis document presents an analysis of the functioning of populist rhetoric, which starts from two opposing perspectives on this political phenomenon. The first sees populism as a danger to democracy and defines its rhetoric as a device to deceive the masses. The second considers populism as that which establishes democracy and its rhetoric as the mechanism that allows the articulation of the people. The discussion that is woven between these two visions of populism will show that the role that the rhetorical element plays in each one of them determines the notion of democracy that serves as the assumption for their statements.en-US
dc.descriptioneste documento presenta un análisis del funcionamiento de la retórica populista, que parte de dos perspectivas opuestas en torno a este fenómeno político. La primera ve en el populismo un peligro para la democracia y define su retórica como un recurso para engañar a las masas. La segunda considera el populismo como aquello que funda la democracia y a su retórica como el mecanismo que permite la articulación del pueblo. La discusión que se teje entre estas dos visiones del populismo permitirá demostrar que el papel que en cada una de ellas juega el elemento retórico, determina la noción de democracia que sirve de supuesto a sus afirmaciones.es-ES
