dc.description.abstractenglish | This work presents the performance evaluation of two anaerobic attached film reactors for which brick and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in cylindrical shape were used as support. The substrate used was the effluent of a hydrolytic-acidogenic reactor whose feed consisted of the organic fraction from municipal solid waste. The systems were tested at room temperature, with a daily feeding of 100 ml, the inoculum used was a 50/50 volume mixture of sludge from a treatment plant wastewater and pig slurry. The output variable of the evaluation of these reactors was the production of biogas, consisting of methane and carbon dioxide, mainly. pH, volatile fatty acids, total solids, and chemical oxygen demand tests were also performed. The methane production results have shown that the reactor equipped with brick as supporting material exhibited a greater production of methane (436 ml / d) compared with the PVC equipped reactor (ml). The different measured variables showed typical values for the operation of an anaerobic reactor. The importance of this work is shown by the evaluation of a type of reactor that allows the treatment of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste by anaerobic digestion, as it allows the collection of a value-added product such as methane and also helps in reducing the environmental impacts arising from the disposal of these wastes in landfills. “Final studies work report.
