dc.descriptionIntroducción: el pensamiento investigativo hace parte de la integralidad del razonamiento médico y del concepto de universidad. La baja participación de estudiantes de medicina en  investigación puede deberse a  la falta de motivación y formación científca. Objetivo: considerar  la necesidad de  incentivar  la  investigación médica en pregrado,  la  importancia de  las agremiaciones científcas estudiantiles y  su  impacto en el desarrollo  y  calidad  científca universitaria. Desarrollo:  la producción  científca es medida de  impacto  y  calidad de las universidades, por  tanto en medicina  la  formación  científca debe empezar desde  los primeros niveles. El ejemplo de estudiantes vinculados a procesos  investigativos puede motivar a otros estudiantes a hacerlo y  las asociaciones científcas estudiantiles son pieza clave en el fomento del espíritu investigativo en el pregrado.  Conclusiones: se debe incentivar la investigación desde el pregrado complementando la formación médica integral. dc.descriptionIntroduction: Investigative thinking is a part of the integrality of medical reasoning and the concept of university. The low participation of medical students in research can be by a lack of motivation and scientifc formation. Objective: to consider the need to encourage the medical  research  in undergraduate students,  the value of scientifc medical students associations and  the  impact  in  the development and scientifc quality of university. Development: the scientifc production is a measure of the impact and quality of universities, hence, medical scientifc formation must begin from the frst levels. The example of students linked to investigative processes can motivate other medical students to do  it and the medical students’ scientifc associations are key  in promoting the spirit of research  in undergraduate students. Conclusions: the research be should encourage from undergraduate level complementing the integral medical formation.
