Resumen El presente ensayo, basado en el análisis cronológico de una serie de títulos de obras dramáticas y narrativas, todas relacionadas con la figura histórica de Simón Bolívar, plantea las diferentes funciones del "título", como uno de los elementos que en un texto cualquiera, constituye una parte fundamental de lo que Gérard Genette denomina como el Paratexto. Al mismo tiempo permite mostrar ciertos elementos en la evolución de la manera de titular o de nombrar algunos textos relacionados con un mismo sujeto.
Summary The present essay, which is a based on a series of titles of dramatic and narrative works, al1 of them related with the historic figure of Simón Bolívar, proposes the different functions of the "title", as one of the elements that in any text constitutes a fundamental part of what Gerard Genette cal1s Paratext. At the same time, it al1ows to show certain elements in the evolution of the way of cal1ing or assigning names to sorne texts related to the same subjects.
