dc.description.abstractLas fallas estructurales son aspectos de la ingeniería de suma importancia ya que conllevan a pérdidas humanas y materiales cuando se registran los eventos no deseados, por ello se deben invertir recursos suficientes para conocer los mecanismos de falla, las formas de evitarlas o minimizar las fallas en estructuras metálicas de acero. El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar la patología en elementos estructurales y conexiones de acero presentes en estructuras metálicas, evaluando los antecedentes de fallas y las formas para prevenirlas. Para ello se revisaron las teorías básicas de estructuras, desde la mecánica de materiales, las bases para los códigos constructivos, las fallas en construcción, así como los diferentes mecanismos de falla, corrosión, fatiga, fractura frágil y mantenimiento. También se revisaron los métodos de predicción basados en la supervisión de la salud estructural y las formas de instrumentación para la obtención de las variables necesarias para el control y supervisión en línea de estructuras. Es necesario estudiar el problema de la patología desde un punto global y multifactorial, ya que existen diversas técnicas, aspectos y áreas de conocimientos involucradas en el estudio de la falla de las conexiones y miembros de acero estructural, las cuales se observarán en la presente investigación.
dc.description.abstractenglishStructural failures are aspects of engineering of the utmost importance since they lead to human and material losses when unwanted events are recorded, so sufficient resources must be invested to know the failure mechanisms, ways to avoid them or minimize failures in metal steel structures. The objective of this work is to study the failures in structural elements and steel connections present in metallic structures, evaluating the history of failures and the ways to prevent them. For this, the basic theories of structures were reviewed, from the mechanics of materials, the bases for the construction codes, the failures in construction, as well as the different mechanisms of failure, corrosion, fatigue, fragile fracture and maintenance. Prediction methods we also reviewed based on the supervision of structural health and the forms of instrumentation to obtain the necessary variables for the control and supervision of structures online. It is necessary to study the problem of pathology from a global and multifactorial point, since there are various techniques, aspects and areas of knowledge involved in the study of the failure of connections and structural steel members, which will be observed in the present investigation.
