dc.description.abstract	Las mujeres embrazadas se consideran con riesgo de broncoaspiración en los procesos anestésicos, esto secundario a los cambios fisiológicos y anatómicos del sistema gastrointestinal. Se plantea el uso de la ecografía como herramienta para determinar de manera cualitativa y cuantitativa el contenido gástrico. OBJETIVO: Describir cuantitativa y cualitativamente el contenido gástrico por ultrasonografía en mujeres embarazadas que van para cesárea. MATERIALES Y METODOS: Estudio de tipo corte transversal analítico, evaluación prequirúrgica por ecografía del contenido gástrico en decúbito lateral según el método de Perlas et al., y medición del área de antro gástrico. Variables demográficas, antecedentes, tiempo de ayuno referido y evaluación ecográfica cuantitativa y cualitativa fueron evaluadas. RESULTADOS: 86 pacientes embarazadas de tercer trimestre evaluadas, (37,6 semanas), edad promedio de 26,79 años, peso de 78,29 kg, el 54,6% presentaban índice de masa corporal aumentado y 63,5% fueron cirugía urgente. En los hallazgos ecográficos: 13% presentaron un examen inconcluso; el antro fue identificado en 87%, hígado 95%, aorta 93%, páncreas 46%, AMS 80%. En cirugía electiva Perlas 0 de 54,3% y en urgencias predomino el resultado Perlas 2 (35%). El 78% de las pacientes con un ayuno mayor a 8 horas presentaron riesgo bajo para broncoaspiración, 18% alto riesgo y en el 13% no determinado. Los factores riesgo encontrados fueron el sobrepeso, la cirugía urgente. CONCLUSION: La prevalencia de estómago lleno en mujeres embarazadas en el tercer trimestre de gestación que fueron sometidas a cesárea es del 25,6%. Encontramos que el área de antro gástrico mayor a 3,9 cm2 tiene una sensibilidad y especificidad para determinar riesgo alto de broncoaspiración. Se recomienda el uso de la ecografía para prevención de riesgo de broncoaspiración en la paciente embarazada.
dc.description.abstractenglish	Pregnant women are at risk of bronchial aspiration in anesthetic interventions, secondary to decrease gastric emptying due to physiological and anatomical changes in the gastrointestinal system. The use of ultrasound is proposed as a tool to measure qualitative and quantitative the gastric content. OBJECTIVE Describe quantitatively and qualitatively the gastric content by ultrasonography in pregnant women undergoing cesarean surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS An analytical cross-sectional study was performed; pre-surgical evaluation by ultrasound according to the method of Perlas et al., of the gastric content and the measurement of the gastric antrum area in lateral decubitus of patients. Demographic variables, relevant patient history, fasting time, and quantitative and qualitative ultrasound evaluation were evaluated. RESULTS 86 pregnant patients in the third trimester of pregnancy (37.6 weeks) were evaluated, the average age was 26.79 years, weight was 78.29 kg; the majority had an increased body mass index (54.6%). Urgent surgery was 63.5%. In the ultrasound findings, 13% of the patients were inconclusive; the antrum was identified in 87%, liver 95%, aorta 93%, pancreas 46%, superior mesenteric artery 80%. Elective surgery was Perlas 0 in 54.3% and Perlas 2 in 35% with urgent surgery. Fasting time more than 8 hours had 78% low risk for bronco aspiration, 18% high risk, and 13% undetermined. The risk factors were overweight and urgent surgery. CONCLUSION The prevalence of full stomach in pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy who underwent cesarean section is 25,6%. The value of the gastric antrum area greater than 3.9 cm2 has good specificity to determine the high risk of bronchial aspiration. The use of ultrasound is recommended to determine preventable anesthetic risks in this group of patients.
