ResumenEn este artículo se pretende mostrar el proceso mediante el cual se fue configurando una región muy particular de la nación colombiana, como es la del Magdalena Medio. Para ello se comienza por criticar la relación entre la categoría región y la noción de Estado-nación, intentando superar ciertas posiciones teóricas dualistas- "los de adentro y los de afuera" – y verla más bien como un proceso histórico dinámico y conflictivo total, en el que es posible comprender con más claridad la conformación de una región específica.
