dc.description.abstractenglish | The aim of this work was to obtain struvite from the digestate obtained during cow manure anaerobic digestion in a low cost tubular reactor. During digester monitoring, content and consumption of organic matter was calculate in terms of volatile solids (VS) and volatile fatty acids (VFA). Process stability was studied according to the VFA/TA ratio and pH. Data obtained indicate that digester operation was stable and without inhibition risks. On the other hand, digestate presented high nutrients content, that suggests the potential digestate use as fertilizer. However, digestate application requires a post-treatment due to pathogens presence (coliforms, Helminth egg and Salmonella spp). With the final purpose of determine most favorable conditions to recover PO43- ions from digestate as struvite, an experimental design was carried out. This design evaluated the effect of Mg2+:PO43- molar ratio (1,5:1, 2,5:1 and 3,5:1), reaction time (10, 50 and 90 min) and stirring (100, 450 and 800 rpm). In that sense, the most favorable conditions for struvite precipitation were 1.5 molar ratio, 50 min time reaction and 450 rpm. With those conditions 55±4,94 % NH4+ and 58±7,72 % PO43- gas recovered. Struvite formation and its crystal composition was confirmed by microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and infrared. Struvite yield was 295,75 mg Struvite/l. AD process is a technology of easy implementation and low cost that allows to stabilize and valorize wastes by producing biogas and digestate. Digestate has essential nutrients that make it enable for struvite precipitation.
