In short, social informatics is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary field that belongs to a larger body of socioeconomic research concerned with information and communications technology.Social information technology investigates the relations between systems development on the one hand, and decision making, power structures, legislation, learning effects, organizational aspects, education and media influence on the other. However, social information technology also takes careful consideration to specify contexts and situations.en-US

Es decir la informatica social es campo interdisciplinario y transdisciplinario que pertenece a un gran cuerpo de investigación socioeconomico preocupado de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación.La tecnologia de la información social investiga las relaciones entre los sistemas de desarrollo por un lado y la toma de decisiones, estructuras de poder, legislación, efectos del aprendizaje, aspectos organizacionales, educación e influencia de los medios por el otro lado. Como siempre la tecnología de la información social es importante considerar contextos especificos y situaciones.es-ES
