dc.descriptionEn este artículo se presenta otra perspectiva al estudio de la expedición filibustera de William Walker al noroeste mexicano, centrándolo en el impacto que tuvo en la sociedad regional del norte de la Baja California, o conocida, en ese entonces, como frontereña. La cual era heredera de una cultura colonial tardía centrada en las misiones, con sus indios y sus soldados. Así, se explica cómo el proyecto filibustero en realidad buscaba ocupar Sonora, pero las circunstancias políticas los llevó al norte de la Baja California, especialmente por su cercanía al puerto de San Diego. Frente a esta situación, la sociedad regional se vio arrasada por la ocupación y la guerrilla de resistencia, motivando un sentimiento identitario muy fuerte, pero a un costo muy alto en aspectos económicos y demográficos.es-ES
dc.descriptionThis article presents a different perspective to the study of William Walker filibustering expedition to northwest Mexico, centering on the impact it had on the regional society of northern Baja California, or known, then, as frontereña. This was heir to a late colonial culture focused on missions with his Indian and his soldiers. Thus, explains how the project actually filibuster on occupying Sonora, but political circumstances brought them to northern Baja California, especially because of its proximity to the port of San Diego. In this situation, the regional society was devastated by occupation and guerrilla resistance, encouraging a strong sense of identity, but at a very high cost in economic and demographic aspects.en-US
