dc.description.abstractenglish | One of the biggest controversies in the world today is the pollution or environmental impact caused by hydraulic fracturing (commonly known as fracking), all of which is mainly due to lack of technical information on the subject. This degree work proposes a detailed investigation of water consumption and the implementation of technical procedures, not only with reference to the Colombian government study, but also to other countries such as the United States, taking the information collected by various industries such as agriculture, swine, mining, poultry and cattle. With the results of this research, it is corroborated once again that agriculture, which is essential for human beings since it provides resources for them to survive, is also the sector that uses more water directly and indirectly, followed by poultry, showing that hydraulic fracturing uses a low percentage compared to these sectors. Taking into account that all human activities will cause changes in ecosystems, it can be determined that not only some environmental impacts are caused by FHPH (multistage hydraulic fracturing in horizontal drilling), but also by other industries analyzed, the results of this thesis will allow the country to have more data to make better decisions on energy issues.
