dc.descriptionSummary One of the majar concerns of the teachers in the everyday duty is that of the question for the value that the student assigns to reading and writing within the learning process. With this in mind, this paper  presents a close up to the problem of reading from the perspective of the teaching of the mother tongue. In this sense, various definitions of reading will be provided; also, there will be a reflection about the attitudes towards the activity of reading; and a last part will deal with the promotion of certain activity types leading to awaken the interest towards reading. All these topics will be developed under the light of the thinking of great readers and experts in the pedagogy of reading. en-US
dc.descriptionResumen Una de las grandes preocupaciones que acompañan el quehacer del maestro es la pregunta por el valor que el estudiante asigna a la lecto-escritura dentro de su proceso de aprendizaje. Con esto en mente, el presente artículo expone un acercamiento al problema de la lectura desde la perspectiva de la enseñanza de la lengua materna. En tal sentido, se definirá la lectura desde diferentes puntos de vista; se reflexionará también acerca de la actitud hacia la actividad de leer y la promoción de ciertas actividades conducentes a despertar el interés por la misma. Todo lo anterior iluminado por el pensamiento de grandes lectores y pedagogos de la lectura.  es-ES
