ResumenLa aparición y rápida expansión de las TIC en el mundo actual, está produciendo cambios vertiginosos en nuestras sociedades. Uno de estos ámbitos en los cuales estos adelantos técnicos han incidido notablemente es en el campo educativo, y no necesariamente como consecuencia directa de la tecnología, sino debido a las transformaciones que la misma tecnología ha engendrado en el sistema social. En el caso particular de Internet en la escuela, su uso instrumental principalmente se enfoca hacia aspectos comunicativos o en su defecto como transmisores- receptores de información. Es en la WWW, donde el impacto que las TIC tienen dentro del mundo educativo, está produciendo cambios estructurales al integrar las computadoras y las redes informáticas en los planes de estudio, incluso extraoficialmente, en el aula, y en la forma de dar clases, con lo cual se generan nuevos entornos -ahora virtuales- en los cuales las TIC participan ampliamente. Por ello se considera importante iniciar una investigación evaluativa que permita valorar estos impactos en la calidad del proceso educativo.PALABRAS CLAVE: Educación superior, tecnologías de la información, medios telemáticos, comunicación, informática.SUMMARY The appearance and fast expansion of the TIC in the present world are producing vertiginous changes in our societies. One of these scopes in which these technical advances have affected remarkably is in the educative field, and not necessarily as a direct consequence of the technology, but due to the transformations that the same technology has generated in the social system. In the particular case of Internet in the school, its instrumental use mainly focuses towards communicative aspects or instead as receiving transmitters of information. It is in the WWW, where the impact that the TIC they have within the educative world is producing structural changes when integrating to the computers and the computer science networks in the curricula, even unofficially; in the classroom, and the form to give classes, in which new surroundings - now virtually- are generated in which the TIC participates widely. For that reason, it is considered important to initiate an evaluative research that it allows to value these impacts in the quality of the educative process.KEY WORDS: Superior education, telematics technologies of the information, means, communication, computer science.
