dc.description.abstract	La presente investigación describe el problema de las acciones militares de la Quinta Brigada contra las organizaciones narcoterroristas FARC, ELN y AUC en la región del sur de Bolívar, debido a que desde la década de 70 estos tres grupos se establecieron en esta zona. Aprovechando la ubicación geográfica, rica economía y poca presencia de las Fuerzas Militares, estos grupos narcoterroristas se asentaron en la zona para desarrollar actividades ilícitas a través de las cuales podían obtener su financiamiento y lanzar ataques constantes contra la población civil. Durante la presidencia de Álvaro Uribe Vélez (2002-2006), este propuso como agenda de su gobierno la Política de Seguridad Democrática, la cual consistió en recuperar el orden y la seguridad del territorio nacional, como requisito indispensable para la vigencia real de las libertades y los derechos humanos. Durante este período las Fuerzas Militares experimentaron un proceso de reestructuración y cambio en su forma de operar frente al enemigo. A partir de este momento sus diferentes componentes, concentraron todos sus esfuerzos en neutralizar los grupos narcoterroristas que operaban en cada una de sus jurisdicciones para consolidar la figura del Estado en estas áreas. Con este propósito, la BR-5, reforzó sus operaciones en su Teatro de Operaciones en la región del sur de Bolívar acorde con el desarrollo de sus planes de campaña y apoyada en su propia tropa compuesta por diferentes batallones: infantería, artillería antiaérea, contraguerrilla, vial y de apoyo y servicio a la brigada, así como las fuerzas de tarea conjunta que se crearon para este propósito. Al terminar el año 2006, la BR-5 había logrado un repliegue importante de los principales frentes guerrilleros que se asentaban en el sur de Bolívar como resultado de varias operaciones exitosas y la constante presencia de sus tropas en esta región.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The present research describes the military actions of the Quinta Brigada against because these groups had established in that area since the 70's years. These groups took advantage of the geographical location, rich economy and the little presence of the Armed Forces therefore these groups settled in that area with the purpose to engage unlawful activities and with that they could obtain financial resources and launch constant attacks against the civilians. During the presidential period of Álvaro Uribe (2002-2006), he proposed as his schedule government the Democratic Security Politic, with a view to restore order and security of the country that was a prerequisite for the effective exercise of freedom and human rights. During this period the military forces underwent a process of restructuring and change in the way as they operated against the enemy. From that moment, the different components of military forces concentrated their efforts on neutralizing the narcoterrorist groups that was operating in each of those jurisdictions, this with the objective to consolidate the figure of the state in those areas. For that reason, the Quinta Brigada strengthened its operations in the operation theatre in South Bolivar region with the development of their campaign plans and supported in their own and different troops, it was composed by different battalions: infantry, antiaircraft artillery, counterinsurgency, road and support to the brigade, that was joined with task forces created for this purpose. At the end of 2006, the BR-5 had achieved a significant retreat of the main guerrilla fronts that was settled in South Bolívar, that was a result of several successful operations and the constant presence of its troops in this region.
