| dc.description.abstractenglish | The structural integrity of pressure vessels is critical in the industry, especially when they are subjected to crack-type defects under combined conditions of mechanical and thermal loading. In this project, a parametric study will be carried out to determine which parameter has the greatest influence on the growth of an existing crack in the thin-walled horizontal pressure vessel, using the Stress Intensity Factor (K_I) corrected by plasticity, through the finite element method in ANSYS, based on a model generated in SolidWorks, in order to computationally represent the behavior of the crack subjected to different types of loads. The results obtained allow us to establish the sensitivity of the parameter K_I to variations in pressure, temperature and depth of the crack. Using a one-factor experimental design that would indicate which parameter has the greatest impact on crack propagation, to determine critical levels that affect structural integrity. The results obtained allow us to establish pressure as the most influential factor with 99.3%, the depth factor with 0.38% and the thermal factor with 0.29%. This methodology will help the industry to better identify crack growth conditions, through computational analysis of fracture mechanics, which has been accepted as a good replacement for pilot tests and laboratory trials. | |
