dc.description.abstract	La industria del Plástico y sus derivados es una de las más importantes en el mundo y en Colombia, de hecho, la industria registro un crecimiento fenomenal en años anteriores (7% anual) y un incremento del consumo dos veces cada 10 años en el país. Sin embargo la industria del plástico no es importante para Santander, porque no está incluida en los planes de desarrollo o en Estrategias Competitivas. Lamentablemente la región desperdicia características positivas para el Desarrollo y Competitividad del Sector: la refinería más grande de Ecopetrol en Barrancabermeja, las relaciones comerciales con Venezuela, muchas instituciones calificadas de educación superior y básica, el continuo crecimiento económico de Santander (más de un punto porcentual en los últimos 5 años) y el interés político regional sobre la Competitividad y el Desarrollo. Este documento tiene su soporte teórico en la Competitividad Sistémica. Este método estudia los determinantes de la competitividad para las empresas, la industria y los países en cuatro niveles Meta, Macro, Micro, Meso. Entonces, este trabajo hace un diagnostico general del sector, comenzando por las estadísticas del Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadísticas (DANE), y otras características de la región y de la industria del Plástico local, el siguiente paso fue una contextualización de la industria en el Mundo, en Colombia y Santander. Finalmente el documento presenta el Análisis, las Conclusiones y las Recomendaciones
dc.description.abstractenglish	The Plastics Industry and their derivatives it is one of the most important industries in the World and in Colombia, in fact this industry registered a phenomenal growth during the past few years (7% annual) and increase the consumption 2 times each ten years to the country. However the Plastics Industry is not important to Santander, because is not included in development plans or in competitiveness strategies. Sadly, The region waste positive characteristics for the development and competitiveness of the Sector: the bigger Ecopetrol™s Refinery in Barrancabermeja, the commercial relationship with Venezuela, many qualified institutions of college and basic education, a continuous economic growth of Santander (more than one percentage point in the last five years), and the regional political concern in the region about the Competitiveness and Development. This document has a theoretical support in the Systemic Competitiveness, this method is an study of the determinants of Competitiveness for de companies, the industry and the countries in four levels Meta, Macro, Micro, Meso. Then this work makes a general diagnosis of the sector starting in National Statics Administrative Department statics (DANE), and other characteristics of the region and the local Plastic Industry, the next step was a Context of the industry in the world, in Colombia and in Santander. Finally the document presents the Analysis, the Conclusions, and the Recommendations.
