| dc.description.abstract | Estudiamos la interacción de la luz con un Phantom (1) que emula las propiedades ópticas y mecánicas del tejido mamario. Como técnica de caracterización, se seleccionó la espectroscopia de infrarrojo cercano (NIR). En la espectroscopia NIR una señal de luz, con una longitud de onda ubicada en el espectro del NIR, se usa para excitar un material y la luz proveniente del material es recogida por un detector óptico. Las alteraciones en eventos fisiológicos pueden ser detectadas a partir del estudio de la absorción o transmisión de la luz a través de un material. Diferentes estados del tejido podrían estar asociados con diferentes eventos fisiológicos. | |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | We study the interaction of light with a Phantom (1) that emulate the breast tissue optical and mechanical elasticity properties. As characterization technique, the near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was selected. In NIR spectroscopy a light signal, with wavelength in the NIR spectra, is used to excite a material and the light from the material is collected by an optical detector. Alterations in physiological events can be detected from the study of the absorption or transmission of light by a material. Different tissue states could be associated with different physiological events. Phantoms optical spectra measured in NIR range were compared with measures reported by Choe (2). A similar behavior was observed. To the optical modeling of breast tissue it is important to know the absorbance in the breast tissue could be associated mainly to the melanin, water and the hemoglobin in its two states: oxygenated and deoxygenated (3). | |
