| dc.description.abstract | La necesidad energética de muchos países los ha llevado a optar por el uso de energías renovables, una de las más estudiadas es el uso de residuos orgánicos para la generación de biocombustible. Colombia siendo un país productor de café, genera una gran cantidad de residuo del mismo, este trabajo propuso evaluar las características de la borra del café con el fin de su aprovechamiento en el proceso de combustión.A partir de la caracterización realizada en el análisis próximo y último, se determinó que la borra de café tiene un alto contenido de humedad y un alto valor de poder calorífico, este resultado se consolidó comparando los valores obtenidos con los resultados de otros autores que realizaron el estudio con otras biomasas. Se seleccionó el proceso de torrefacción como el tratamiento térmico que mejoraría las características de la biomasa. Posteriormente, se realizaron pruebas de termogravimetría para la biomasa in natura y torrefactada y con los resultados obtenidos se desarrollaron cuatro modelos cinéticos que describían la cinética de descomposición de la biomasa a tres velocidades de calentamiento. Mediante el desarrollo del esquema de reacciones independientes y paralelas, se analizó la descomposición de cada uno de los principales elementos de la borra de café. Adicionalmente, se produjo la combustión de la biomasa torrefactada en una caldera y al analizar el gas producto, se determinó de forma experimental la relación aire-combustible del proceso, estos resultados se compararon con los valores teóricos para la validez de los resultados. Los resultados que se presentan en este trabajo describen la caracterización de la borra de café y su viabilidad como materia orgánica para el proceso de combustión. | |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | The energy need of many countries has led them to opt for the use of renewable energy, one of the most studied is the use of organic waste for the generation of biofuel. Colombia being a coffee producing country, generates a large amount of waste from it, this work proposed to evaluate the characteristics of the coffee erase in order to be used in the combustion process. From the characterization carried out in the next and last analysis, it was determined that the coffee bean has a high moisture content and a high calorific value, this result was consolidated by comparing the values obtained with the results of other authors who performed the study with other biomass. The roasting process was selected as the heat treatment that would improve the characteristics of the biomass. Subsequently, thermogravimetry tests were performed for in natural and roasted biomass and with the results obtained four kinetic models were developed that described the kinetics of biomass decomposition at three heating rates. Through the development of the independent and parallel reaction scheme, the decomposition of each of the main elements of the coffee bean was analyzed. Additionally, the combustion of the roasted biomass in a boiler took place and when analyzing the product gas, the air-fuel ratio of the process was determined experimentally, these results were compared with the theoretical values for the validity of the results. The results presented in this work describe the characterization of the coffee bean and its viability as organic matter for the combustion process.Coffee as a consumer product is an abundant crop and widely used in the world, large quantities of production are recorded every year and increases every time. In 2018, a total of 50,431 per thousand bags of 60 Kg (3.03 Mt) of coffee ready for consumption were generated, in Colombia there is a production of 1800 per thousand bags of 60 Kg (0.11Mt) of coffee according to the international coffee organization (ICO, 2019). Proportionally, this generates a waste of organic characteristics like all biodegradable waste. Although these wastes consist of compounds that may have commercial interest, this plant material does not have a specific defined use. After a survey conducted in the city of Duitama in the department of Boyacá and Piedecuesta in the department of Santander, Colombia, it was shown that 90% of the people surveyed choose to dispose of the waste. From this problem, the intention was born to look for an alternative of energy use based on the study of the combustion of the material. | |
