dc.description.abstract	Los repositorios Institucionales se han convertido en parte fundamental para las instituciones de educación superior, no solo del país sino del mundo; estos logran que la actividad intelectual de nuestra Universidad esté representada cada vez más en soporte digital y se ejerza un control sobre esta producción, haciéndola accesible, fácilmente recuperable y asegurando su permanencia en el tiempo. En el presente trabajo de grado se da a conocer el desarrolló del Repositorio Institucional de la Universidad Industrial de Santander (RIUIS), el cual fue realizado con el fin de maximizar la visibilidad, logrando la preservación y mayor difusión del contenido intelectual producido al interior de la comunidad universitaria. Para cumplir este propósito fue elegido, después de un análisis detallado, el software DSpace, ya que es de acceso libre y uno de los más utilizados para gestionar archivos organizándolos por comunidades, asignándole metadatos y permitiendo su difusión. Se realizó el montaje de este software en el sistema operativo RedHat Enterprise 6.2, además se configuro y personalizo de tal forma que satisficiera las necesidades institucionales de la Universidad tanto en apariencia como funcionalidad. Durante el desarrolló de este proyecto se tocan aspectos claves como la definición de estándares de interoperabilidad, basado en directrices y/o políticas comunes que permiten intercambio de datos y metadatos entre servidores para facilitar la conexión de repositorios, además se tiene en cuenta la discusión de unas políticas institucionales públicas que definan quienes, como, cuando y que se pública en el repositorio.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The Institutional Repositories have become a fundamental part for education institutions, in the country as well as around the world; they digitally represent the intellectual activity of our university applying control over this, making it accessible, easily retrievable and ensuring their permanence. This degree work shows the development of the Institutional Repository of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (RIUIS), which was developed in order to maximize visibility, achieving greater preservation and dissemination of intellectual content produced within the university community. To accomplish this purpose after a detailed analysis, the software DSpace was chosen for the development, as it is free and one of the most widely used to manage files by organizing communities, assigning metadata and allowing dissemination. It was assembled into the operative system Red Hat Enterprise 6.2, also configured and customized so that it would cater to the institutional needs of the university both in appearance and functionality. During the development of this project there will be key aspects such as the definition of interoperability standards, based on guidelines and / or common policies that allow exchange of data and metadata between servers to facilitate connection of repositories, also taking into account the public institutional policies that define who, how, when and published in the repository.
