dc.description.abstract	El desarrollo del presente ejercicio investigativo, constituye un intento de comprensión de la situación histórica de los territorios del Magdalena Medio Santandereano que se encuentran en el área de influencia del Proyecto Hidroeléctrico sobre el río Sogamoso. El área estudiada comprende veredas de los municipios de San Vicente de Chucurí y Betulia, los cuales poseen unas características particulares que los convierten en ejemplo perfecto de articulación de elementos propios de procesos históricos complejos. Por su riqueza natural estos dos municipios han sido lugar de importante actividad agropecuaria, de presencia de grandes capitales y de acción constante del conflicto armado. Estas características se reconfiguran en el periodo comprendido entre 1980 y 1992 con la aparición de nuevas dinámicas y expresiones, entre ellas los cambios en las formas de distribución de la tierra y el despliegue de los grupos paramilitares, elementos fundamentales en el entendimiento de la situación histórica y social de la región. En la actualidad, con la llegada del proyecto hidroeléctrico sobre el río Sogamoso, las comunidades de la zona de influencia directa serán desplazadas, desapareciendo con ellas la memoria de un importante periodo histórico de la región, por lo que hoy se hace necesaria la construcción y estudio de su Historia.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The main intent of the current investigative exercise is to comprehend the current situation of the historic territories of the Magdalena in Santander. These territories are considered to be the area of highest influence of the Hydro-electric project over the Sogamoso River. The area of study also takes into account the paths along the municipality of San Vicente of Chucuri and Betulia which possess unique characteristics that can be a prime example when articulating the idea of the elements that are found within a complex historic process. For its natural riches, these two municipalities have been a place of importance for agricultural activity and animal care, involvement of great capital and constant action from the armed conflict. Such characteristics are reconfigured during the period between 1980 and 1992 with the introduction of new dynamics and forms of expression which include the way in which the land is distributed, the deployment of Paramilitary groups and fundamental elements of comprehension of the historic and social situation of the region. In present time, with the influence of the Hydro-electric Project over the Sogamoso River, the communities within the area where the project takes place are slowly disappearing and will eventually vanish along with the memories of a once important historic period for the region, thus, creating the necessity for studying, researching and constructing its history.
