dc.description.abstract	El crecimiento del ecoturismo va vinculado directamente al uso de áreas naturales y el páramo de Santurbán marca una oportunidad para este tipo de turismo, convirtiéndose en los últimos años en un destino demandado por visitantes locales, nacionales y extranjeros que buscan conocer este atractivo turístico único, que posee una auténtica biodiversidad de fauna y flora, e inmerso en un imponente ecosistema hídrico y paisajístico. Este trabajo de investigación, analiza el panorama del desarrollo de turismo sostenible realizado en el Páramo de Santurbán, en el cual no se evidencia un horizonte claro de la aplicación de prácticas amigables con el medio ambiente, la sociedad y la economía por parte de los prestadores de servicios turísticos con influencia en el destino, provenientes de los municipios de California, Vetas, Suratá, Toná y Matanza. Esto hace que se pueden presentar debilidades en la adopción de normas, acciones e iniciativas adecuadas, para hacer frente a los desafíos en la conservación y preservación de la diversidad natural y cultural del sector. Debido al grado aún incipiente de conocimiento frente al tema, se llevó a cabo la presente investigación para dar respuesta a la pregunta ¿Cuál es la estrategia de fortalecimiento de las prácticas de sostenibilidad en Santurbán, para mejorar su potencial turístico? La metodología desarrollada en el estudio, conllevo tres grandes fases: i. Casos de éxito de buenas prácticas sostenibles a nivel mundial, ii. Identificación de buenas prácticas sostenibles en la Provincia de Soto Norte y iii. Formulación de estrategias para la sostenibilidad turística. Este análisis resalta grandes retos con los cuales, por medio de la adopción de buenas prácticas turísticas, así como el fortalecimiento de otros parámetros, se podría favorecer el potencial turístico sostenible de Santurbán.
dc.description.abstractenglish	The growth of ecotourism is directly linked to the use of natural areas and the Santurbán moorland marks an opportunity for this type of tourism, becoming in recent years a destination demanded by local, national and foreign visitors who seek to know this unique tourist attraction, it has an authentic biodiversity of fauna and flora, and immersed in an imposing water and landscape ecosystem. This research paper analyzes the panorama of the development of sustainable tourism carried out in the Páramo de Santurbán, in which there is no clear horizon of the application of friendly practices with the environment, society and the economy by the providers of tourist services with influence on the destination, coming from the municipalities of California, Vetas, Suratá, Toná and Matanza. This leads to weaknesses in the adoption of appropriate norms, actions and initiatives, to face the challenges in the conservation and preservation of the natural and cultural diversity of the sector. Due to the still incipient degree of knowledge regarding the subject, this research was carried out to answer the question: What is the strategy to strengthen sustainability practices in Santurbán, to improve its tourism potential? The methodology developed in the study, entailed three major phases: i. Success stories of sustainable good practices worldwide, ii. Identification of sustainable good practices in the Province of Soto Norte and iii. Formulation of strategies for tourism sustainability. This analysis highlights great challenges with which, through the adoption of good tourism practices, as well as the strengthening of other parameters, the sustainable tourism potential of Santurbán could be favored.
