dc.description.abstractenglish	This research focuses on the protection of intellectual property in Free Trade Agreements that are in force in Colombia in 2012. It starts with the historical analysis of the beginning of intellectual property rights and the theories that have been formulated about the development of intellectual property, how the international organizations related to IP rights have been originated, the legal regulation of intellectual property at the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO and the World Trade Organization WTO. It also includes the protection of intellectual property in the American hemisphere within the Organization of American States OAS, and in the subregional Andean Community area, CAN. The investigation continues with the study of the regulation of the protection of intellectual property in Free Trade Agreements ratified by Colombia, the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of Colombia, and the impact that these treaties have had in the National Development Plan 2014 of the Colombian Juan Manuel Santos, as well as in CONPES 3533 and 3620 of the Ministry of Treasure and Public Credit of Colombia, which shows the commitment of the Colombian state regarding this topic. At the end, conclusions are presented and recomendations are formulated taking in count the theories and legislations that were developed in the investigation. .
